Why Popcorn and Movie Shows? Episode two. taped April 23rd 2007

There were so many great performances this evening but this one was by far the most surreal. Folk singer, Christine Lavin had an "idea" to do a parody of the Pete Seeger song, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, lampooning the current white-house administration. She emailed a few friends to come help her with it at Birdland that night and since Christine is the worlds most supportive person in the music industry, they all gladly showed up game for whatever. Her entourage included these wonderful performers that you should check out: Rob Langeder, Jenna Esposito, David Goldman, David Potts, at their respective names.com and David Ippolito at www.that guitarman.com and Jenny Lynn Stewart at ManhattanDiva.com. Damn I wish I had thought up that URL. The purpose of this video pod cast is to chronicle the “contenders” for my up coming CD, Gemini. It will be a double CD with one disc being the humorous songs that I am compelled to perform and the other disc will be the “saddest songs I know”. Each Monday night at Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, the wildly popular Extreme Open Mic at Birdland, I will try out a new song for the usually packed and star-studded audience. At the end of the series subscribers will be asked to vote for the 10 best songs, which will then be recorded, live for the CD. The pod cast will also feature highlights from other performers I deem worthy. So if you like Jazz with a sense of humor subscribe now!
